I went for a drive just because I wanted to get away from busy daily life.
How refreshing going for a drive in Okinawa is! First, start from Chatan!
Chatan town has a variety of features depending on time and season.
First, stopped by Sunabe seawall area which I love!
This area reminds me of Greece in Europe with beautiful clear sky and nicely designed white sunshades where you can just read your favorite books all day…
Yet, today, I decided to head off to the northern area of Okinawa Island.
I stopped by an unknown private beach in Yomitan.
I felt like someone kept this place just for me! Nobody here, just me, myself and I. Such an amazing beach with crystal clear blue sky and water, I could almost see the seabed! What amazing color!
Next time, I will definitely be here for swimming or reading my favorite book or novel.
After the excitement, I’m getting hungry, so let’s go to the Road Station in Onna village.
There is one thing that I always want to eat whenever I come here.
It’s a scallop with tasty golden colored crustacean sauce!
I love mussels, too. This time, I had a scallop. Wow, the sauce spreads through your mouth and how tasty! It’s amazing with such a reasonable price and rich flavor.
After that, I enjoyed shopping of local fresh vegetables. What is amazing about shopping here is that you can taste some vegetables you are not sure of or you have never seen. After shopping, continue our drive! How satisfying!
Going for a drive to the north of Okinawa is such a fun activity.
While you enjoy the beautiful blue ocean on your left, you can easily drop by Road Stations, local cafés or convenience stores to fill your empty stomach or quench your thirst.
Why don’t you try some Okinawan unique snacks such as Kamesenbei (sea turtle looking rich crackers), Shiosenbei(flour base cracker with salt flavor). If you are thirsty, Okinawan Sanpincha (Jasmin tea) or Shekwasha juice (flat lemon or citrus juice) will be best to try.
After enjoying a light snack, I stopped by another private beach in Onna village which is known only by the locals.
I actually hope that nobody finds this place so that the beach can stay quiet and pretty.
Unfortunately, the time we arrived, the weather was overcast. Yet, because it wasn’t too hot, we could just chill and enjoy another snack at the beach.
Now, after enjoy the beautiful blue ocean, we might want to enjoy some pretty greens next! What is the recommendation?
Prefectural Forest in Nago!
This is one of my favorite places in Okinawa. We can just park our car at the parking lot and take a nap for a while.
After that, enjoy going for a walk in the park. Surprisingly, we can come across with various flora and fauna.
We came across with a vividly colored hibiscus, now we feel like we are in subtropical island! How pretty!
What a healing trip coming across such a variety of beautiful things.
I just could not stop taking pictures.
Well, we enjoyed stopping at various places, tasted many kinds of yummy food and relaxed at a beach and forest.
Now, let’s head back to our home. We are so refreshed, ready for being back to busy life again.
Why don’t you also try this refreshing trip in Okinawa and get yourself recharged!
